Statement
I
work in the medium of
glass, utilizing the process of lampworking as a means to express my
artistic vision. I find the intimate, one-on-one nature of lampworking
to be instrumental in fostering thought in my work. The medium of glass
is truly magical to me. Glass can take on an endless number of shapes,
colors, and compositions. The transformation process that glass goes
through from solid to liquid and back to solid particularly fascinates
me. In my finished works, I often try to capture the essence of the
materials fluid nature, visible in the molten state.
Much of
my inspiration is drawn from the natural world. I believe that the
shapes and patterns found in nature, from simple to complex, represent
art in its purest form. I have a deep interest in interpreting these
forms in glass whether it is an environment I have observed on the
ocean floor, within a jungle in Thailand, or a galaxy I have witnessed
in night sky. I hope to share my love of these forms to the viewers of
my art.
